Oh god. You need to see this. This, yeah, delights me into a foam. German cabaret artist, Hagen Rether, spends his 2007 New Year's appearance on television in Germany ranting eloquently and perfectly about Islamophobia in the German media. First, this is salient and needed saying. Immediately in the shadow of the Swiss minaret ban, but also in the wider context of the demonisation of Islam across, well. We have one hell of a lot over here, don't we? Secondly, I can't get over how fucking beautifully he speaks while quite visibly livid. Thirdly, I fancy him into the next fucking century. He's my new hero. Current Mood: astounded |

Virgin on the ridiculous So, I'm on Sky Broadband, because it's cheap, and has been adequate so far. Unfortunately they've now set the monthly cap for the cheap package at 10GB, which is not adequate, and they're going to enforce it (by bumping people up to the Unlimited package). Paying for "up to 20Mbit" ADSL, when BT says our line can only do 6Mbit, would be silly. So. The only non-ADSL option: Virgin Media, formerly NTL. How bad is it in north Cambridge? I used to hear a lot of complaints; now, not so much. Did it improve or did you all just get used to it? Current Mood: irritatedCurrent Music: Iris - Nobody Wins |

Apparently you should record your successes. I'm bored of To Do lists. So, since I feel the need of a morale boost, here instead is a Done List for this weekend! ( Achievement under here. )And tomorrow's list of things I am going to do (as opposed to "should" do, I'm sick of giving myself orders): ( Going To Do list! )That ought to do it... Christmas wishlist meme! Crossposted from LJ in the hope that everyone on here will do it too. Okay, it's nearly December, so I figured it's time to trot this out! This meme was huge on LJ a few years ago, but I haven't seen much of it yet this year, so I figured I'd push it out there (that's your cue, guys, do the meme! I wanna get you all stuff!) So, my Winterthing wishlist: ( The Rules. )( And my list, which goes up to 11 because all things that are told to go up to 10 should do so: )There we are. Some sensible stuff, some ridiculous stuff, some insanely expensive stuff but hey, it did say wish for whatever you really wanted... ^_^ Laters, Rath x PS I also wish I knew what to get all my friends, so I reiterate: everyone, please, steal this meme! <3 PPS If anyone does need to contact me, as per the rules, kit_scorah@yahoo.com is the address that I don't mind putting on unlocked posts. :) Current Mood: festiveCurrent Music: Still just the rain |

oh dear. So, I just went to see 2012. I like disaster movies. I like watching stuff falling apart. It makes me very happy. Remember those car insurance adverts with the slow-motion exploding stuff, or breaking glass? Those are my favourite adverts ever. I could watch them on a loop for hours at a time. I just love watching stuff fall apart. It fascinates and delights me. All apart, all glittering and smashed up and wrecked - I love it. Makes me very happy. When I was a kid, dad and I* used to walk along Hell's Mouth up in Wales and play Bombs Away to the horror of mum. We'd pick up rocks off the beach, which is mostly just rocks and ship debris, and lob rocks at bottles and smash them. It was brilliant. Given this, I expected to really enjoy 2012. I expected an orgy of visual porn where stuff got wrecked. Fortunately, I was not disappointed in this: the Stuff Falling Apart visuals are superb. Volcanoes! The earth swallowing itself! Giant tsunami! Skyscrapers smashing into each other in a shower of broken glass! I was very happy. ( Unfortunately, someone saw fit to write dialogue for this film, and also tried to make some characters and a plot, too. )Okay, that's enough. That's all I can bear to squeeze out of my poor, battered brain. So here's that in brief: There are three reasons to see this film- The Stuff Falling Apart effects are superb and gorgeous. - The Russian pilot, Sascha, is hot enough to melt rock. - The absolutely hilarious Science! There are many reasons not to see this film- But it is one of those "So Bad It Is Enjoyable" films. - I got a lot of mileage out of slagging it off. So now you know. I'm going to bed. Edit: AND NOW IT IS PUBLIC, LOL * ...ow Current Mood: disasterous |
